Moving to Crete with dog - worried

HI,
I have a little dog who is my constant and adored companion. I've read so many horror stories about dogs being poisoned in Crete that this is putting me off coming at all. I live in Berlin right now and there are dog haters here too, who last year seemed to go on a campaign of posionings, killing numerous pet dogs across the city. So I'm on alert about this problem even here as it is ongoing, but it seems worse in Crete and I would never forgive myself if my dog died in agony due to my moving to a country where this practice of laying down poisoned bait and purposefully poisoning pet, rescue and street dogs seems rife, so I have some questions: Would I have to muzzle him at all times outside of my home for fear of poison Could he run free on beaches (off season/early mornings/eveings) without the muzzle, or is it likely he would also be poisoned there as well? And would a city, say Chania for instance be safer for him in terms of being poisoned than a small village? If people are living in villages/cities where do they walk their dogs? Crete is not really a place for public parks! smile I am presuming anywhere near farmland is dangerous for dog walks due to farmers laying down poison for rats etc. I had a lovely walk down a small gorge on my last visit and thought about how much my dog would adore the walk, but then we ran into some goats and again I thought that part of it is probably farmland, which means it again might be unsafe for the dog. Sigh. Also what about long-term rentals with a small dog, would I find it difficult to find something due to having the dog? And finally, a non-dog related question. I work freelance from home and absolutely need to have to have Internet wherever I would move. Are there parts of Crete that definitely don't have Internet that I should avoid (I've been twice and it seemed to be available everywhere...) I would love to move to beautiful Crete, but not at the expense of the life of my dog, and it would be no fun for him to be constantly muzzled and on the leash outside of the home, and no fun for me if we can't go on long walks together without me constantly on alert about what he might be eating.
Thanks

I did not find the right solution from the internet.
